My mom got me up at 4AM so I could get ready. Tossed on jeans and my jacket, grabbed my wallet, and we were out the door by 4:30. It wasn't too cold at this point. When we got to the Toys R Us parking lot (I decided to get a gold GBA SP isntead of the Gamecube) at 4:50, I was suprised.

No one was there. Not a single person in line, no other cars with people in them. I guess everyone went to Wal-mart or other stores for stuff. Since there was no line, I just waited in the warm car. A few other cars came as well, and everyone just waited inside their own cars, till about 5:30 when everyone decided to start waiting outside. So I walked over got in line, 5th person if you must know. It started getting a bit windy now, but it was bearable, and the time passed somewhat quickly.

I got inside and just went straight to the R-Zone (that's what the electronics section is called, if ya didn't know). Even though the quickest path was blocked off (they reorganized movable displays and such to make it so people would have to walk around the whole store in a maze before getting to the other side where the cashiers were, a couple people found a hole and walked through so I got there quick. Whee, I was the first person to buy something today. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing that shows how sad a person I am ;P.

After paying at the R-Zone, on the way out, I noticed the Lion King DVD nearby and remembered it was $10, so I picked it up as well. I was out the door by 6:25 and home by 6:40. It started raining when I was coming out, but we got home before it really picked up.

So now I've got a gold SP and Super Mario Advance 4. Oh, and a free Nintendo headphones postcard thing I need to send out. Yay, no more having to use my rechargable batteries for the GBA and a light for it so I could see (said batteries are really for my camera, and I'll need those soon). Oh yeah, for those who have an SP already, they seemed to fix my number 1 problem with the directional pad - it's raised a tiny little bit and actually feels like it has substance to it now.

Work calls

Whee, I just got called in to work. The boss at Party America asked Malinda to call me to help stock again, cause there's boxes that are starting to pile up that need to go out on the floor, so I'm working 4 to closing (9:30).

So much for sitting around here the rest of the day relaxing, but I don't really mind.

Got off work at 9:20, got home a little while ago. Today wasn't bad compared to before, because there's no emergency rush anymore. I helped out with the second half of the New Years aisle, which replaced the Thanksgiving aisle since that's over now. First I had to grab the ladder from the back hallway, then set it up, then climb up and bring down some heavy boxes from the top shelf. This may seem simple and easy. However, it was not. The boxes on the top shelf were stacked up to twice the height of the shelf itself. The ladder however stopped short of the shelf. The ladder is also a very old, very wobbly, unstable woonden piece of junk.

I got most of the the (relatively) lighter boxes off first, then I worked on the heaviest ones last, having to climb up on the shelf itself to get at them. Luckily Malinda was still there, so I had her hold the ladder. It might have collapsed or fell otherwise, as I had to step on the upper most step to get up, and it was still wobly with her holding it.

After that, Malinda went home (she worked the normal 8am - 4:30pm today,) the rest of us stocked the aisle till about 8:30ish. After that, we pretty much did nothing, just doing a 'walkaround' (walk around making yourself look busy, fixing out of place items, but really doing as little work as possible). We had a lady come in who started raising her voice at everyone in the store, saying she was there to pick up her custom invitations that were supposed to be in on Tuesday. Turns out they were never ordered, because the person in charge of that made an honest mistake (which is understandable, she's one of the bosses, always busy with paperwork, and STILL helps with everything else regardless). The manager apologized to the lady, who still yelled at everyone, then went around the store picking up the rest of the stuff she needed, muttering and yelling loudly at everyone, threatening to never orders tuff there again, the usual idiotic threats.

When she was paying for her things, she turned up the rudeness level, shouting directly at the manager, who was trying to see if something could be worked out. The lady refused to listen, demanding his business card with his name, the name of the person who made the mistake, and the district manager's number, demanding the positions and phone numbers for each so she could complain and whatnot (don't know if he gave the phone numbers out, I don't think he did since he's not supposed to). When she left, everyone was relieved. From the lady's side, the party she needed the invitations in supposedly is tomorrow, so it'sunderstandable that she'd be mad. However, she didn't have to try to cuss out the whole store, that was just way over the line.

At 9, the manager asked me to grab the big pushbroom in the back and sweep the floor. Finished that in 15 minutes, stood around for 5, then clocked out with everyone and went home. The manager has asked me to come back on monday, so it looks like I'll be working next week in addition to the week after, instead of just the week after next.

Rommel was right when he told me the other week that closing is boring. I don't think it's so bad; since because the morning shift people do most of the work, the closers get to stand around doing nothing towards the end of the day. I would rather keep busy though. I'm a lazy person, but I'd rather do stuff than stand around doing nothing.

I'm sleepy now, but I think I'll stay up a little while longer, at least till midnight.
