Ups and Downs

So I got up this morning and did a few things, then went out to the kitchen. Steve handed me the newspaper asking if I knew someone who was in there. Turns out it was an article saying they caught the guy suspected of killing Sharonda Parker, an old friend from school for many years (since around 2nd grade I believe), when we were in the 11th grade. Here's the online article from Vallejonews. She was one of the popular people in high school, but somehow she managed to be one of the nicest people around, not letting it go to her head, and it shocked the whole school when she went missing and then was found face down in a ditch, strangled to death (the week before Thanksgiving that year as well). I'm sure lots of people were a little bit relieved when they read the paper this morning.

Another thing in the paper this morning was an obituary for one of my sister's friends from when she and Benny worked at Six Flags Marine World Vallejo. I met her once a few years ago when I had a season pass and was bothering Malinda a little while she was working in one of the stores there. She was also a friend of Gerald, Malinda's ex-BF, who visited the house the other week and told us Carmelita was sick in the hospital. He later told Malinda at work, so Benny and Malinda went to visit her the next day. I think Malinda's going to go to the viewing tomorrow. The funeral's Saturday, which is when we were supposed to go to Japantown. I think we're still going though, not sure.
